Nicky's EB Info World ~ Featured EB parent: Tammy

Hi everyone! I'm Tammy Bradley (I say my last name because we have a few EB Moms with the name Tammy). I am 30 yrs old, very close to 31. My birthday is on October 31 Halloween :o). I was born in Las Cruces, NM and I'm still living here. I have three great kids. Joey is 10 yrs. old, Breeana is 8 yrs. old, and Christopher is 6 yrs. old. Christopher was born with Junctional Non-Herlitz Epidermolysis Bullosa. I also am pregnant with my fourth baby Jeffrey due in February of 2000. We don't know if he will be born with the EB so we will be prepared at his delivery for it just in case. I also have the best husband Gary that I've been with for 7 1/2 yrs., married almost 6 yrs. February 12th is our anniversary and we just might be having our baby at that time. Gary helps a lot with the kids and with Christopher. He takes bandies off at night and does bathes sometimes too. This helps me when I need a break from it. It can be very stressful bathing a child with EB! I am a stay at home mom or you might say a "domestic engineer". My husband has two Galleries/Gift Shoppes in Old Mesilla, NM that he runs by himself. The shoppes have Native American jewelry, pottery, art...paintings, kachinas, rugs and artifacts. The stores have been in his family for 10 yrs. I fill in every once in awhile & go on buying trips with him sometimes. (I can only do this when Nama is free to baby-sit). When you have a child with EB you can't just up & go leaving your child with anyone. For me I have two main baby-sitters that I am totally comfortable with, my mom and my sister in law Lorraine. Both can do bandies & handle any owies that come up. Christopher has stayed overnight with both before. My mother in law keeps him too but only for a few hours at a time. She is battling some health problems of her own. Our family also enjoys dirt track sprint car racing. We have a bright orange sprinter called "Orange Blossom Special #97". My husband has driven a sprint car since he was 15 yrs. old. This year he retired when we lost his dad. His dad was very involved also. We still have our car and still race every Saturday night May-Sept. We have a good friend Richard drive the car and Gary and Sal (another very good friend) work on the car. All my kids, myself included enjoy the excitement and fun we have doing this. I am so happy to belong to such a wonderful support group. We help each other out and talk everyday together. I always look forward to reading my emails and chatting with them. They are wonderful.
